President of Mt. Province State Polytechnic College is Second Fatality in Halsema Road Accident

The second fatality in the highway mishap that happened last Saturday morning along Halsema Highway in Atok, Benguet is the president of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College which is located in the capital town of Bontoc.

According to reports, Dr. Eufemia Lam-en, 57, passed away while undergoing treatment at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center. She was first brought to the Benguet General Hospital but then was referred to the BGHMC. She died while in the ICU of said hospital on December 1 (Sunday), a day after the tragic accident.

Dr. Lam-en has been in office as president of MPSPC for just nine months. She took her oath as head of the institution on March 20, 2013. Lam-en was a college dean for the school until she resigned in 2007 to pursue a career in politics. She served as a provincial board member then as secretary for the Provincial Board. She resigned in March 2013. That's when she rejoined MPSPC and voted in as the institution's fourth president. She succeeded Nieves Dacyon.

Lam-en was married to Alfredo Binky Lam-en and they have 6 children. She just turned 57 last May.
