PO2 Lawin B. Salisa Laid to Rest

Last September 30, 2013 (Monday), with family, friends and policemen from the Special Action Force branch of the Philippine National Police in attendance, slain cop Police Officer 2 Lawin B. Salisa was laid to rest in a cemetery at his hometown in Besao, Mt. Province. PO2 Salisa along with fellow SAF member Enrique Afable were killed in Zamboanga City last September 24 while in the heat of battling Moro National Liberation Front rebels.

The remains of Salisa was flown to Manila in September 25 after a send-off ceremony at the Edwin Andrews Air Base in Zamboanga City with Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, AFP Chief of Staff Emmanuel Bautista and PNP SAF Director Carmelo Balmoria in attendance. After a stop in Bicutan, he was taken to La Trinidad, Benguet the next day. A viewing and mass was held at the Epiphany Church. Dawn of September 27, the convoy brought him to Payeo, Besao.
