Eduard "Landslide" Folayang and Kevin "The Silencer" Belingon to Fight in Singapore This Coming September

Eduard Folayang and Kevin Belingon, Igorot fighters from Baguio City's Team Lakay Wushu will be participating in a huge Mixed Martial Arts event scheduled to be held on September 3 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The event dubbed Champion vs. Champion: Asia’s Greatest Battle of Champions will pit 16 international and national champions against each other. The packed fight card was organized by ONE Fighting Championship, a new MMA organization. Champion vs. Champion will be the organization's first event. The event is expected to draw a capacity crowd of 12,000 fight fans.

According to reports, Eduard Folayang (9-1-0)will be facing off against Ole Laursen, a fellow Filipino fighting out of Copenhagen, Denmark. Laursen is a Muay Thai kickboxer and he holds an MMA record of 5-2-0. His two losses came in the hands of world-class MMA fighters Caol Uno and Genki Sudo who were previous competitors under the UFC, the world's number 1 MMA organization. These are losses, yes, but they were looses against elite fighters. Caol Uno is a guy who fought BJ Penn to a draw. That alone speaks of what Laursen went through. With that said, in terms of the quality of previous opposition, Laursen has the upper hand over Folayang.

Folayang will have his hands full come September. Folayang has a wushu background. If you've followed the previous fights of Folayang, you will agree with me when I say that he has little standup skills. He is a ground and pound fighter. He prefers to wrestle his opponents to the ground and pound them them out.

I'm not going to lie. This is a fight that I think will be won by Laursen unless Folayang shows some improvement in his striking abilities or he takes down Laursen and pounds him out early. If this is going to be a stand-up fight, I don't see Folayang winning at all.

Watch the following fight videos of both fighters and you will see how their fighting styles match. So here are my thoughts:
1. In a standup fight, I see Laursen winning unless Folayang lands one of his hayemakers.
2. In a ground fight, I see Folayang winning but there's a huge risk. Laursen won two of his last fights via submission. If Folayang gets careless on the ground, he could get submitted.
